  • Donations
  • A continued show of unity

Staying in Touch

I hope this Newsletter Finds you all well. Here in Maine, winter has set deep into all that is in its boarder. The ground is covered with glisting snow and the winter hush has set into the bones of all.

It is hard to believe that the new year is almost into its second month. Time seems to pass so fast. This year we have many exciting things planned. The quilt is undergoing a logging process. Each panel will be logged with pictures and story. That process will complete not only the history of the quilt, but a wonderful book on how the quilt became this wonderful show of unity. I look forward to keeping you posted on this long journey, and in working with those that will help make it all happen. For this process, the quilt will be on vacation untill 2006 at which time we are working to show the quilt in Washington D. C.

Tsunami hit hard and one of our associates in India has asked for our help. If you would like to help, the Heart of America Quilt has started a fund. All proceeds will be donated to those in need in India. Please visit our site to see all that the Sec. Gen. of the Indo American Unity center has done http://www.heartofamericaquilt.com/new_page_1.htm

We will spend most of this year raising funds for the care and upkeep of the quilt along with the funding it will take to make the DC event a great success. Our first fundraiser has been given to us by our advisor Don L. Rondeau. Mr. Rondeau has offered us a donation of $5 per book sold from our site. His book can be found on our website http://www.heartofamericaquilt.com/advisors.htm

We are also very fortunate to have a wonderful clown friend by the name of Nino that has offered to perform a circus with all proceeds to benefit the Heart of America Quilt. Hats off to Nino and a special thank you to our Clown hall of fame clown!

I have challenged our advisors to help with fundraising and I know they will all jump forth to make this a great year. We are working on a special challenge for all of you. We are going to challenge each of you to help raise funds with contests thought the year. Our first will be a school challenge and will be posted on our site beginning Feb. 14th. I hope you will visit the website at that time to see what this big secret challenge is and what it will take to win!

None of this is possible without the great help of each of you. Thank you for your dedication and support.

Susan

Here’s a few ways to help unite your community:

  1. Organize a public signing.
  2. Call your local town officials and ask them to sign a panel with your organization.
  3.

  4. Have an art contest and let the winner be the designer of your panel.
  5. Invite your neighbors to a gathering and all do a portion of the quilt.
  6. Collect food and clothes for your local shelter while you do a signing.
  7. Take a panel to the mall!
  8. Ask a local event if you can bring a panel and a table.
  9. Take a panel to work!
